If I were a teacher I would use the Excel tool for multiple purposes. Excel could be used to layout class assignment due dates, calculate student grades for tests/assignments, take attendance and much more. For example, if I were teaching 2nd grade English I would use excel to make a spreadsheet to lay out the grammar, writing, and other assignments that students would be responsible for knowing the details of. Continually, I would use it to calculate the grades of in-class assignments compared to writing assignments and other activities.       The topics that I found most interesting from reviewing my classmates' blogs was being able to see their perspectives on the different aspects of educational technology. It was very interesting to gain knowledge of my classmates' opinions and ideas for how educational technology can expand in the future, different educational technology platforms, as well as different techniques to use in the classro...

ILP "Design"-Stop Motion

This stop motion video is a remediation of several poems by Rupi Kaur from her book Mik and Honey. I chose to make this video becuause I enjoy reading Rupi's work and thought that it would be interesting to try looking at it in a different medium. To make this video I used an app called "Stop Motion" that allowed me to take a multitude of photos (of illustrations that I drew from Milk and Honey) and combine them into one stop motion video.

The "flipped classroom" is a different approach to teaching. Specifically, this strategy uses at-home time and homework activities for children to learn and grow and then uses in-class time for students to practice etc. This type of model allows students to utilize their time to learn more on their own time and then apply those concepts in the classroom. The "flipped classroom" model gives students a chance to not only learn on their own, but to gain additional knowledge through their own applications.  Open Educational Resources (OER), is defined as openly licensed texts, media, and other technologies that are helpful for teaching. OER is useful for research and other helpful tools that increase the education of students who use it. It is said that these types of resources can promote the development and enhance the desire of the student to want to learn.  https://library.educause.edu/topics/teaching-and-learning/open-educational-resources-oer This resourc...

I have never used Twitter until the start of my academic career at Florida State. I have been using Twitter for some of my other classes in addition to using it in this EME class. From using Twitter I have learned how to be informed and stay up to date on current events academically and around the world. I think that Twitter is useful in this sense because it allows individuals such as myself to communicate and share ideas and also learn more from other individuals who are sharing information as well. There is a multitude of benefits that come from using a social media platform like Twitter. One of these benefits includes being able to stay connected and informed in so many different locations. Another benefit is that Twitter can be used to spread awareness and education too. I have not had any issues using Twitter in my experiences so far. It has been very useful for connecting and learning about other educational tools and resources that will help me in my academic and career futu...

The class website that I found is for a 2nd grade class from the Deer Valley Unified School District Website. Specifically, this 2nd grade class belongs to Ms. Parmigiani. Located on the website, that is allowed to be seen publically are a lot of resources such as the weekly school newsletter, the daily class schedule, the classroom homework and many other useful materials that the students would need. There is also a "Welcome!"/"About me" page that the teacher introduces herself and talks a little bit about what her class will be like.  http://parmigiani.weebly.com Since I want to go into publishing, I would use technology to accomplish my professional responsibilities more effectively and efficiently by incorporating it into the way that I work with the publishing firm. Specifically, I would use technology to educate, market, and spread the word about book/magazine releases and also use technology to work with various...

ILP "Participation"- Technology Sandbox

Image
The Technology Sandbox at FSU 1. My experience: Going to the Technology Sandbox at FSU, I  was able to learn a lot about the different interactive and innovative technologies that exist and how to use them. While in the technology sandbox I  was able to learn about multiple interactive learning tools such as the Smart Board, and two other versions of a technology white board that would be useful in the classroom. While all three different versions has their differences, these smart boards seem very useful in accommodating people with disabilities, young students, and improving interaction and tangibility in the classroom. Additionally, another tool that was shown to us in this tour were the 3-D Printers. This specific tool had multiple uses, but when applied made me realize that there are many more uses for teaching and interaction than meets the eye. These printers could be used (similar to that of Virtual reality) to tangibly learn about anatomy, animals; there are endle...

Blog Journal Five

My initial experience using Diigo was unfamiliarity. I had never used this platform before. One characteristic that I did not like was the layout and orientation of the website; it was not very user-friendly. There were many areas and links to click on that had no emphasis or way to differentiate what categories they were in etc. It would be easier for users to use the platform if there were distinct ways to see links, different users, and overall a better layout for the platform to see all of its tools. I have used a lot of other online and writing platforms before beginning this class; however, I had never attempted blogging. My experience with blogging has been relatively beneficial. I think that blogging is a great way to articulate what I am learning and what I  want to learn more of. During the blogging process I  have learned how to document and express the things that I have learned in a  way that others can understand and learn from as well. I have learned whil...
