Hi my name is Emory Parkins! I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, raised in Orlando, Florida and likely coming to a city nearest you. As an Editing, Writing, and Media major at Florida State University my dream is to work for a publishing house in New York. I  am the oldest of three younger brothers, two of which are twins- I have a crazy family.  I  would say I share about as much love for the following things: ice-cream, coffee, the gym, and pugs.

As far as using technology in an educational setting, I have never really had a lot of experience other than using a laptop in class and the occasional "smart board". Educational technology is something that I hope to learn more about, but I have not had the opportunity to use many of the educational technology tools that I am sure are out there. However, I do have a lot of experience using different media and technological outlets such as WIX, Canva, and others in certain educational settings. Besides the basic technologies such as a laptop, powerpoint, word, excel, etc. there are not many other platforms that I am familiar with.

There are so many things that I  hope to learn about not only the different types of technologies that exist for education, but how they can be best executed to do so. Because I am going into publishing, this class is not something that I  originally thought would be beneficial to me. However, I think that learning about the different types of technologies and how they can be used to educate others is a tool that I will be able to use in publishing or any other career I try to pursue. I think that learning how to educate someone on a topic (such as technology) is one of the best ways to learn about that topic yourself.

  1. Love your attitude. :-) Though you are not using technologies to teach, you can learn how to evaluate digital resources and find the right ones to learn for yourself.
