There are many different reasons that students and teachers would use technology in the classroom. In today's world there is so much information and knowledge that students can use as resources that technology is the best tool to learn. The influence of technology being so great in the classroom is due to the amount of information that students can be exposed to at one time in addition to the various resources students can use to learn the class material.

One ISTE standard that I find very thought provoking is #6- Creative Communicator. I think that being a creative communicator is very important for students' overall education. If one is not able to effectively communicate while expressing their ideas, creativity, and thoughts, then what's the point of learning all of that information? I also think this is important because students should be able to use a variety of tools, mediums, etc. to be able to communicate what they have learned with others.

Out of the seven ISTE standards, one that seems outside my skill set would be #5- Computational Thinker. I think that this is because while creative thinking is one of my strengths, sometimes problem solving can be a little bit difficult. On the other hand, what would lessen this difficulty would be the use of technology. This specific standard is outside of my current skill set because I have no had much experience with leveraging the power of technological methods to create solutions to tests.

To be a "digital native" is to be someone who was born or grown up with technology. I disagree with the assumptions that the "digital native" generations are not as motivated, educated, or as fast of learners. I think that those who grew up and are continuing to grow up in the age of technology have access to more information, resources, and tools than all of the generations before them. Therefore, I believe that these "digital natives" are going to make more of an impact in the world because they have access to so much knowledge. I personally have seen a difference in the amount of information that older generations and younger generations have (digital natives) have been exposed to. The older generations do not seem to understand or easily grasp the plethora of information that is constantly circulating as much as the younger generations do. I have grown up using technology and have also seen my brothers grow up using technology. Seeing the difference in the amount of technology and the ease at which they can use it is astronomically different than previous generations. I think that future generations will be even more advanced than these current generations as technology continues to advance.  Creative Commons License

  1. As we recently see some politicians' careless speakings, effective communication is definitely one of the important skills that students have to learn.
